Midnight on the Double-B
(SHORT STORY) Kylah McCombs finds her life turned completely upside down when her overwhelmingly handsome neighbor manages to get control of the water rights to her ranch. Michael Beasty has no intention of cutting off the water supply to the McCombs ranch, but he can’t tell Kylah until he figures out how to resolve the issues that threaten his own ranch. So when Kylah’s redneck fairy god mother shows up on a Harley to save the day, she convinces Michael to hire Kylah as his housekeeper and give her a way to buy back her water rights. Michael needs a housekeeper desperately, but isn’t sure he can hold out against the snarky flaxen haired beauty that has moved into his house and his heart. Will Kylah and Michael find a way to save both ranches? Will they destroy each other in the meantime? Who is the strange woman on the motorcycle that has shown up in their darkest hour with the mangiest dog on the planet? What does she want and why won’t she go away?

My thoughts

Midnight on the Double-B is a short story with a new twist on the fairy godmother. But don't let having a fairy godmother in this story fool you into thinking it is filled with dancing mice and glass slippers. You could not be more wrong. Kayce has brought a whole new side to the fairy godmother and let's say I wish I had a bad-ass Harley riding fairy godmother to meddle in my life. This short story was fun, feisty and left me with a smile on my face. Kylah and Michael have a connection and spark between them that will make you want to reread this story simply from the great feeling you are left with. I am already on the edge of my seat waiting for the next installment of the FGM adventures of Delta Jane.
