When we see the cover for a biker book how many of us think ‘oh gosh this going to be raw, sexual, dark and basically the script for an episode of Sons of Anarchy’? There is something about the gritty world of bikers that draws me in from the safe cocoon of my living room. However, sometimes I am overwhelmed reading about all the nasty and dangerous things happening. For me, reading is about an escape and most often that silly school girl giggle that a book can make you have. Finding the best of both worlds in a book can be difficult and many of us go on mad hunts for the book with the bad boy but with enough romance to make us swoon. Chantal Fernando has struck the perfect balance of bad boy biker who makes us giggle and wiggle our fingers in a wave. Dragon’s Lair brings us the sassy, quirky and defiantly hormonal Faye who is trying to make her life work with Dex, the brother of her ex and Vice President of the local MC. These two have a long history to start off with and this helps the story move along quickly. We get enough depth from each character without dragging out the unnecessary details and this helps the story line move along nicely. Chantal does a great job withbringing enough danger to the table to keep us on our toes but then she balances it with these funny and witty moments that make us laugh. I would safely say this is a great first biker book for any reader looking to branch out and bring a little sexy danger to their e-reader. Dragon’s Lair is the perfect read for those who love a romantic story with a little edginess to it. I give Dragon’s Lair a Loved it rating.
