Gossip is the ultimate currency in Rosemary Beach, but Bethy and Tripp have managed to keep one big secret to themselves.
Eight years ago, Tripp Newark was dating a rich girl he didn’t like and was on his way to Yale—and a future he didn’t want. The only way he could escape his predictable life would be to give up the money and power that came with his family’s name. And that’s exactly what he planned to do. At the end of the summer, he was going to ride off on his Harley and never look back.
That was before he met Beth Lowry.
It was only supposed to be a summer fling. She was a sixteen-year-old trailer-park girl who served drinks to his friends at Kerrington Country Club. They didn’t run in the same social circles. No one even knew they were friends, let alone lovers. Yet, for one summer, Bethy became his entire world.
But he couldn’t give up on his plan. He needed to leave Rosemary Beach, but he vowed he would come back for her.
Problem was, by the time he came back—years later than promised—it was too late. His cousin, Jace, had already claimed the woman he loved. . . .
Review
There are books that will make you laugh and others that
will make you cry. But every once is a while a book comes along that will touch
a place in your soul, You Were Mine
is that book. Abbi Glines has taken her readers through the trials and triumphs
of the gang from Rosemary Beach but in each of the books there has been the
lovable Bethy. She stole our hearts as Blaire’s best girlfriend and throughout
each book we have seen her find and lose love. In Your Were Mine we learn of Bethy’s first love and then follow her
as she fights to find forgiveness in others, herself, and how to move on when
her soul feels broken. Abbi Glines does an impeccable job at developing Bethy
into a character that you cry for, laugh with, and want to shake some sense into.
Then we have Tripp Newark, a guy who is perfectly imperfect. I was not
expecting to fall in love with Tripp but he has a vulnerable yet endearing
quality that makes him undeniably lovable. I wanted to stay mad at him but
after each page I was finding my own forgiveness for his characters flaws. Being
able to read the cause, affect and fall out from his choices brings the story
fully circle. Tripp makes us empathize and sympathize with him for his own
loses. Bethy and Tripp are each interesting on their own but together they are
completely captivating. This is not just a story of young love or lost love but
a story of love that can endure all. You
Were Mine is beautiful, heartbreaking, and will stay in your memory for
years to come.
